Is it possible to draw a Polyline behind closer objects and another in front of closer objects, but still behind the first line?

Is it possible to draw 2 Polylines of same positions, one "behind" closer objects (Depth Test: LessEqual), and one in front of closer objects (Depth Test: Always) but still always behind the first line?

Or draw 1 polyline in front of all objects (Depth Test: Always), but have it change into a different color/material (Stencil Buffer effect?) when its drawn "through" other objects?

(the googled image below shows the sort of behaviour I seek)

Thanks for your time! /V
